VSE COBOL
In order to facilitate a rapid and accurate conversion of your COBOL environment, the following process will be implemented by PRINCE Software's Professional Services Division:
- You provide all required program and library source code.
- PRINCE Software will perform the conversion at our data center.
- Your COBOL source will be converted from VSE COBOL to any higher level dialect desired.
- Optionally, PRINCE Software can use its powerful MHT/Format to reformat COBOL source code for:
- Alignment of field names and attributes in the Data Division;
- Alignment and indentation of clauses;
- Correction of improper indentation;
- ...and more!

IBM Report Writer
If you have any programs containing Report Writer features, PRINCE Software's Translate/RW can convert this code to COBOL in one easy step. As a service, your programs can also be made compatible with the latest COBOL versions without hours of manual translation or the risk of human error. All resulting COBOL code is readable and modifiable by you, thus assuring ease of ongoing maintenance. Translate/RW converts all Report Writer code without requiring any additional calls to Assembler modules or special run-time libraries — so you save effort, time, and money.
Key Characteristics of Translate/RW:
- Retains the same or similar variable names to demonstrate the relationship between the original Report Writer source and the newly generated COBOL.
- Represents each report group by one or more descriptions of report lines in the WORKING-STORAGE section and by a procedure to construct and print the lines of the group.
- Retains Report Writer DECLARATIVES as performed procedures; references to control data items in control footings make use of the values at the preceding detail group.
- Separates report generation and control break logic from user code and report group presentation. Report Writer statements in the PROCEDURE DIVISION are replaced by PERFORM statements, which invoke the report generation logic.
